About #Pwrof1

Making a difference, one small act at a time.

Our Mission

The mission of #Pwrof1 is to create positive change through personal connections.

#Pwrof1 believes we can stop bullying, end teen suicide, and prevent school shootings by educating and empowering our youth to stand up and step in, one small action at a time.  The #Pwrof1 is the power of paying it forward.  The #Pwrof1 is a movement that can change the culture of our schools.  One smile, one act of kindness, one conversation at a time.

Here’s our story:

January 2018:  Photographer Cara Jonas envisions the Stop Bullying billboard campaign to support Bullying Prevention month in October and to give her HS Senior clients an opportunity to give back to their community and support their peers.

February 2018:  The billboard campaign is expanded to embrace the #Pwrof1 movement that was born out of conversations and planning for the billboard campaign.  The idea of using Teen Ambassadors to represent the cause is born!

March 2018:  The first ever #Pwrof1 Ambassador selection process kicks off and we receive our first applications for the program.

April 2018:  Billboard sponsorship level are defined and the first solicitations go out.

May 2018:  We receive our first sponsorship donation (Dupps Company-THANK YOU!) and announce our 2018-2019 #Pwrof1 Ambassadors.  Seven amazing students were chosen:  Matt Beckman, Dylan Berry, Emma Briney, Adam Karman, Nick Martin, Sydney Meyers, and Laney Raab.

July 2018: The first ever #Pwrof1 Billboard photo shoot is held at the Marriott North Cincinnati.

Sept 9, 2018:  Envision Cinemas Blue Ash hosts the first ever #Pwrof1 Billboard reveal party.

Sept 11, 2018:  The first #Pwrof1 Billboards are on display across Cincinnati.
